Safety Scholarship

BACKGROUND

The Mid-Atlantic Construction Safety Council is sponsoring an annual $5,000 scholarship for an undergraduate student studying to be a safety, or industrial hygiene professional. The scholarship is offered once each academic year to a student meeting the eligibility criteria listed below. There will be no discrimination for awarding this scholarship based on age, race, religion, nationality, or gender.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Minimum Eligibility Criteria
    Must be a full-time undergraduate student who will be entering into either their Junior or Senior year of study in one of the following Universities and degree programs:
    • Millersville University - Safety Science
    • Indiana University of Pennsylvania - Safety Science
    • Drexel University - Environmental Science
    • Temple - Civil & Construction Engineering Tech

  2. Rating Criteria
    The following criteria will be considered in awarding the MACSC Safety Scholarship:
    a. One Page Essay
    b. Construction Experience
    c. Grade Point Average
    d. Two Letters of Recommendation
    e. ASSE and Other Safety Related Activities
    f. Quality of Application
    g. Quality of Interview with Scholarship Screening Committee

  3. More Information
    All undergraduate students entering into either their Junior or Senior year, enrolled in one of the degree programs identified in Section 1, are encouraged to apply. There are no "losers" in this process. Regardless of the outcome of your application, this is an excellent opportunity to introduce yourself to other members of your chosen profession - and to let them get to know you! Your fellow safety practitioners are very much interested in your success and want to help you. All applications and documentation must be received by June 1, 2008.
